Where to go a night out in São Paulo #1

Jazz Nos fundos is a cocktail bar and club located in Pinheiros, a really nice neighborhood in São Paulo. The bar offers a variety of beers and, of course, caipirinhas, but what makes its unique is the story behind the name and the place itself.

In English, the name of the club means "Jazz in the back", and, as it implies, the club is literally located in the back of a parking lot. Once you find the address, to get to the bar at first you'll spot the entrance of a kind of garage with a gate, where you are gonna walk through it, and only then find the club hidden in the back. I find this information important because you can miss the entrance. The first time I was there, I walked by the gate twice before actually finding it, even though I was accompanied by someone who knew the place. :)

Once there, you'll find incredibly good music, with the band playing at the same level of the visitors, in a somewhat dark, but nice atmosphere due to the dim light of the place. In the bar's own words:

By the way, the website of the club makes publicly available the multimedia collection of live jazz and instrumental music performed at Jazz nos Fundos since November 2006. We are talking about audio recordings of around 700 musicians from the music scene in São Paulo and other Brazilian states, as well as from countries like the United States, Germany, Chile, among others. Very important: the club opens from Thursdays 'til Saturdays only, between 8pm and 2am. Plus, the payment is only in cash or debt card.
