Journalist Anthony Boadle said that Brasilia feels like an open-air museum.
I couldn't agree with him more.
Besides the "modern buildings designed by famed architect Oscar Niemeyer and laid out by urban planner Lúcio Costa", I would call attention to Niemeyer's and Athos Bulcão's (the latter a powerful artist who enjoys less recognition worldwide than the first) ability to transform uninteresting surfaces – façades, gables, panels, divisions and walls – into true masterpieces.
And the best of all: they aren't restricted to a few art lovers.
Like Niemeyer, Athos had a primary concern for publicly works: more than half of his artworks in the capital can be found at places frequented by the folk, such as hospitals, schools, churches, palaces and government institutions in general. A quick walk around the town will prove me right!
Some of the art designs are patterned in outside surfaces, which can also serve as nice backgrounds to pose on for some shots.
I am trying to grow my collection taking more photos around the city! And you?!
