The Chapada dos Veadeiros hosts every year the Meeting of Traditional Cultures of Chapada dos Veadeiros in Goias state, Brasil.
The Meeting is a celebration of Brazilian popular culture. It brings
together people from all around the country to interact with the
indigenous peoples and other communities who do ritual dances, sing traditional songs and share stories about their culture.
Some of the performances are held in a multiethnic village that serves as a temporary camp out for the indigenous groups who come from mid-west and across Brazil. The Meeting also holds workshops covering themes like paper recycling, circus acrobatics, capoeira, dance amongst others.
One thing (among many others of course) that takes my breath away at
this village is the huge hut built for the Meeting in the middle of an
open-air area facing one of the imposing plateaus in the Chapada, as
seen below.

The scenario kind of makes you feel like these people living in their
actual villages. As a gesture of respect, you have to ask indigenous
for authorization to get into the hut. Although the’y’re quite cool
about it, I never tried, just peeked inside a couple of times.
It’s not simply to put into words the magic of experiencing it,
but in case you haven’t clicked trough the other links yet, you can
learn more about the Meeting here, here and here. To check out amazing pictures, please click here. Or leave a message so I can send you more links ;-)
The moment the photos were taken I was at a tent of local and traditional food. I had ordered a beiju.
